Sports charity events often bring together the excitement of competition with the spirit of giving, and Lara Davis, an event producer for the Knockout for a Cause charity boxing event, knows firsthand how much work goes into producing a memorable event. Lara’s job is to manage everything from coordinating with sponsors to overseeing the logistics of the day.
“A big part of my job is making sure that everything aligns with the charity’s mission,” Lara explains. She works closely with Carlos Rivera, the event’s founder, to ensure that the charity’s goals are integrated into every aspect of the event.
Before the event, Lara works with a team of volunteers to ensure that every detail is accounted for, from setting up auction tables to arranging seating. “We want the guests to feel like they’re part of something special,” Lara says. She also coordinates with the media to ensure that the event is covered, helping raise awareness for the cause.
On the day of the event, Lara is constantly moving, checking in with vendors, managing volunteers, and ensuring that the venue is ready for the guests and athletes. “It’s a stressful job, but it’s incredibly rewarding when everything comes together, and the event raises money for a good cause,” she says.
The event, which featured a live auction and raffles, successfully raised over $50,000 for mental health initiatives. For Lara, the most rewarding part of the day was watching how the community came together to support the cause. “It’s not just about putting on an event. It’s about making a lasting impact,” she reflects.
