Trent Watson has dedicated his career to developing young ice hockey players in San Antonio. A former semi-pro player, Watson combines his love for the game with an innovative coaching style that focuses on teamwork and adaptability.
“Hockey is as much about your mind as your body,” Watson says. “I teach my players to think three moves ahead, like chess on ice.”
Watson’s practice sessions are fast-paced, featuring skating drills, puck control, and team strategy simulations. One of his standout athletes, 16-year-old goalie Ryan Clarke, praises Watson’s method: “Coach always pushes us to be better, both on and off the ice.”Watson is also deeply involved in the community, running after-school programs that introduce hockey to children who might not otherwise have access to the sport. “Hockey builds character and resilience,” he says.
